The scenography in the salon is simple. A black and white background. White chairs. A ditch of water that separates the spectacles from the audience. Their expressions, reactions and actions are reflected in the water surface. I think it's best when the passengers of the sinking ship balance on buckets set up in the shallow water.
The dialogue is of course and naturally in the actors' mouths, and through their design they succeed in reinforcing the questions that the show asks: What really happens to people in a disaster? What is a human life worth? And can someone else's life be more worth saving?
The Titanic is mentioned, Estonia is mentioned, but not once is there talk of the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean. But the message is getting through anyway. It becomes especially clear when one of the actors in passing mentions that it feels like we are the ones on the Titanic, those who just stand by and see our loved ones drown.
When the show is over, and I come out of the room, the sky breaks. The first raindrops fall. And I fold up my umbrella as protection against the water.
